What is Landscape Manitoba?

Landscape Manitoba (LMB) is a trade association of arborists, growers, (greenhouse, sod, nursery) garden centre operators, landscape contractors, landscape designers, landscape maintenance contractors and suppliers of national and international products. Membership includes active grower members, associate members, government and university horticultural personnel and academic members.

Programs, Benefits & Services

LMB is affiliated with the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA), which represents the industry https://secure.landscapeontario.com/epic48/content.phpon a federal level. Active, Associate and Honourary Life members are also members of the CNLA.

Education & Awards Programs

The Landscape Certified Technician and the Greenspace Management programs are in place to further the level of expertise in our industry. Awards include the Walter Shelmerdine Award (the highest honour an individual can receive for their contribution to the industry), Landscape Awards of Excellence, Honourary Life and the Project EverGreen Award.

Membership Categories

ACTIVE (Voting member) - Any individual, partnership or corporation may become a regular active member if they are primarily engaged as: arborists, growers (nursery, greenhouse or sod), landscapers, garden centre operators, landscape maintenance and designers, contractors or suppliers, who have a reputation for trustworthy dealings which must be maintained as a condition of membership.

ASSOCIATE (Voting member) - Any individual, partnership, or corporation engaged in allied trades, such as horticultural printers, publishers of trade papers, seed suppliers, manufacturers of agricultural implements, automotive equipment, etc.

HONOURARY LIFE (Voting member) - Any person, who has rendered distinguished service to the industry or in the general field of horticulture, may be elected for life, as a voting Honourary Life Member, by vote of the Board.

HORTICULTURAL (Non-commercial, non-voting) - Any person engaged in the industry in the employ of botanical gardens, parks or cemetery boards, city or municipal arborists, golf course superintendents or greens keepers, horticultural personnel or agricultural schools, graduates of such schools, government employees engaged in horticultural branches, and horticulturists employed in private industry are eligible for membership. (It does not apply to anyone engaged in the propagation, growing or selling of nursery stock or other horticultural products for profit.)

STUDENT (Non-voting) - Any person enrolled in a recognized horticultural program may become a student member providing proof of student status in a recognized horticultural program (i.e. Manitoba Apprenticeship, Greenspace Management) is submitted with the membership application form. Students may continue at the student level of membership for one year after graduation (after which the student will be entittled to apply for regular membership).
